Alisal / North Salinas High School Track & Field
March 10, 2005
The Don Chapin Company teamed up with the Salinas High School District to reconstruct and improve Alisal High and North Salinas High Track and Field. This project had a total contract amount of $1,594,593.00 with work beginning in June of 2003. The team in blue worked hard to complete the project by April 2004 with work consisting of bleachers, mass grading of two existing grass playing fields, installation of new 400-meter running tracks which included lime treated base, asphalt concrete paving, and an all weather track surface made of 100% polyurethane and synthetic materials.
A new synthetic grass system was installed on their combination football / soccer field which included the installation of 156 tons of cryogenic rubber in-fill made of 100% recycled automobile tires, an elaborate under-drain system below the playing field allows the fields to be in use during inclement weather conditions. This artificial turf field provides a natural playing characteristic while maintaining extreme uniformity year round with minimal maintenance and no irrigation cost. These new track and fields will be used by students and the local community for many years to come.
