Gilroy Sports Park
The Gilroy Sports Park project kicked off in early 2005, and will certainly prove to be an exciting and successful undertaking for the Don Chapin Company. Depot Park
Located on a prime 7 acre site just a block from the wharf in downtown Santa Cruz, the Depot Park and Multimodal project began as a dream by a determined community. A task force was formed, tax measures passed, and funding ultimately granted; all part of a concerted effort to transform the historic rail yard at the heart of the city from its current state of disrepair into a crown jewel for the City. It was with this same spirit of community that the Don Chapin Company, upon being awarded the contract, set out to build the park. more »
Harkins Slough Trail-Caltrans Right-of-Way
The Don Chapin Company and the City of Watsonville are working side by side to complete this project on time and under budget, fulfilling all of the City�s requirements. This work in progress includes over 9,000 CY of fill, drainage improvements, slope rehabilitation, and decomposed granite trail construction. Expected completion should occur in early spring of 2005. more »
Fed Ex Ground
The Don Chapin Company is pleased to be working with Bremco Construction in the new Fed Ex distribution center. Located in Watsonville, California, this large grading project includes the treatment and export of soil to accommodate the proposed building structure. The Don Chapin Company’s grading and underground crews will also play a large role in this project featuring asphalt concrete parking lots and expansion of the utility infrastructure. Alisal / North Salinas High School Track & Field
The Don Chapin Company teamed up with the Salinas High School District to reconstruct and improve Alisal High and North Salinas High Track and Field. This project had a total contract amount of $1,594,593.00 with work beginning in June of 2003. more »
Harkins Slough Trail
City of Watsonville and the Don Chapin Company worked diligently to complete this project on time and under budget. This completed project included the construction of over a mile of 8’ wide decomposed granite walking trails. Construction included mass earthwork, slope rehabilitation, modular block retaining walls, and a small bridge to cross the slough. more »
Gross Road
The Don Chapin Company worked closely with the County of Santa Cruz to complete this neighborhood project which entailed the reconstruction of the roadway prism in its entirety. Reconstruction efforts included, but are not limited to, new sidewalk and curb and gutter, asphalt roadway rehabilitation, and storm drain and water line improvements. more »
Crazy Horse Road Bridge
Located in the rural area of north Salinas, the Crazy Horse Road Bridge that crossed the seasonal Gabilan Creek was in need of a make-over. Supported by interlocking 12” x 18” timbers, abutments and a matrix of steel railroad rails, the old bridge was outdated and in dire need of replacement. more »
Eden Valley Care Center
Located in Soledad, The Eden Valley Care Center is only one of many projects the Don Chapin Company takes pride in provide excellent service to achieve a positive outcome. This project encompassed from a variety of aspects by means of; replacing weakened and deteriorated asphalt concrete through out the parking area with a 4” asphalt concrete deep lift patch, extend and widen the turnouts, install speed bumps for traffic control, re-sealing the entire asphalt concrete surface, and re-striping the parking lot stalls to the original layout. more »
Camp Pico Blanco
Set in the rural and majestic valley of the los Padres National Forest, the north fork of the Little Big Sur River can be found. This majestic place is known as �Camp Pico Blanco�, a Boy Scout retreat and campground. The Boy Scouts of America, Monterey Bay Council Camp Pico Blanco has partnered with The Don Chapin Company to build a bi-directional fish ladder that will be constructed adjacent to the existing flashboard dam. more »
Ryan Ranch Safety Exercise
With safety being the first priority at the Don Chapin company, our team was delighted to partner with the Monterey County Health Department to prepare for a disaster drill simulating someone falling into an abandoned well. To create this situation, the “Team in Blue” was proud to drill the well, and to fabricate a well casing for the disaster team to use. This special project was part of a grant given to the Monterey County Health Department to search and map out abandoned wells and to conduct safety drills to increase public awareness of the potential dangers posed by abandoned wells. more »
Safeway at the Crossroads
The Don Chapin Company is excited to finally break ground on a new Safeway store at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Carmel Valley. This project has been in the planning stage for a number of years and we are proud to be a part of Pac Trust and Safeway�s team to help build this dream. more »
Best Buy at Northridge
The Don Chapin Company is proud to team up with the FPT Group, Inc. to build the new Best Buy store at the Northridge Mall in Salinas, California. This project includes a massive export of existing material to accommodate the new building structure elevations. The Chapin Company will also be involved with the project’s parking lot improvements and utility improvements including asphalt concrete paving, site concrete, storm drain, water, fire, and sewer pump station. more »
